Tribute from St Kevin's College

With great sadness St Kevin’s College, Toorak, Victoria, mourns the passing of Br Frank McCarthy. 

Br Frank lived a full life of service for his faith, the Church, the congregation of Christian Brothers and education.  A scholar of exceptional ability, his Cambridge doctorate was but a glimpse of his giftedness.  Headmasterships of Parade College, CBC St Kilda and St Kevin’s were highpoints of his professional career.

It was St Kevin’s College's great fortune that he spent decades on the staff, actively teaching until July 2009.  Hundreds if not thousands benefited from his teaching of religious education, literature, art, debating and rugby.

A vigil will be held at the College on Tuesday 12 January at 7.30pm.  Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Ignatius Church Richmond at 11.00am Wednesday 13 January.

On the evening of Wednesday 17 February, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Br McCarthy will be held in Smith Hall.
