Climate Change: Touching People

Eco-Justice

Kiribati

Claire Anterea recently returned from the United Nations international conference on  climate change in Durban. Along with other members of the Edmund Rice Centre's's Pacific Calling Partnership, such as Tafue Lusama from Tuvalu, Claire voiced the concern of the people from Pacific Island nations. While in Durban she witnessed dire poverty amidst extreme wealth. this shocked her but helped her understand what is holding back the negotiations. Anterea left Durban with the conviction that the basic problem at the climate change negotiations was not so much climate change but rather an on-going disregard for our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
