The Old Oceania Provinces of the Christian Brothers have, for some time, had outreaches to Developing Nations.
The New South Wales Province has been providing Brothers to ministries in New Guinea since the mid 1950's.
The Queensland Province established a presence in East Timor before, during and after their Independence.
The Victoria Province has been providing Brothers to ministries in Africa for a long time.
The Western Province also provided Brothers to Africa and support to a ministry in East Timor.
New Zealand established ministries in the Pacific Islands.
One of the first tasks of the new combined Oceania Province was to invite brothers from all parts of Oceania to join in one, and then a second, community in The Philippines.
