Edgework Computer Consultancy is largely a one-person ministry (currently Br Berkeley Fitzhardinge, though he is supported by many with technical and computer experience who give their advice freely.

What We Do

• Provide telephone, email and remote computer management support to Principals, Staff and Students of Kimberley indigenous schools.
• Visit schools where requested to provide onsite support.
• Advise on and order computer equipment for schools.
• Liaise on behalf of schools with the West Australian Catholic Education Office.
• Laise on behalf of the WACEO with Kimberley Indigenous Schools.

Our History

This Edgework Ministry began in late 1992 when a Kimberley School was looking for some onsite assistance with setting up their computers and facilitating student use of computers.  From 1993 regular visits were made to three Desert Indigenous Schools.

The title: Edgework Computer Consultancy, though used prior, was formalised with the advent of the GST.  Edgework was chosen because the work was truly on the edge, in remote desert regions and in support of indigenous people who were marginalised.

Notable Achievements

Played a significant role in planning computer networks and supplying network equipment for Kimberley Schools as they prepared for the rollout of Cathednet (A VPN linking all Catholic Schools in West Australia) which began in 2003.

Main support person for the Kimberley Catholic Schools contract with Maze for the school Administration Package - Mazelite.

Was involved with the Bush Schools Network (2008-2009) - a Federal Govt initiative aimed at improving remote school network and computer communications to approach those of city schools.
