Edmund Rice Camps Victoria turns 30 in style.
On a fresh Melbourne Saturday evening in May over 160 people involved in various capacities over the years in Edmund Rice Camps in Victoria gathered to celebrate the organisation turning 3O. The event was held at the very stylish Platform 28 bar in the inner city Docklands area. The event was advertised as a Cocktail Party and people dressed in style accordingly. The scene was set for a night of sophisticated celebration of the powerful work of ERCV.
‘Eddie Ricers’, past and present, joined to “remember when” with old and new friends and to plan the next adventure with our current enthusiastic volunteers. It was fantastic to see faces from other states of Australia (Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia) who made the long trip in some cases to join us.
The evening was also a perfect opportunity to present Br. Gerard Brady, now living in New South Wales, with his life membership award, an achievement that was met with resounding applause. Other Brothers in attendance were Peter Clinch, Robert Stone and Shane Wood, who enjoyed catching up with some of the people associated with Camps back in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Some fundraising was included in the program in the usual form of raffles and silent auctions. These raised a total of $1,300 to contribute to our June Family camp. A fantastic evening was enjoyed by all who attended, and the occasion demonstrated that enthusiasm for Edmund Rice Camps Victoria is alive and well!
