Program Design/ General Description
Edmund Rice Institute for Social Justice (ERISJ) purpose is to build community development, skills and action for social justice. It provides social justice education and service learning, engages with and builds a community for social justice, fosters research in areas of social justice; and support advocacy and action, especially related to the poor and marginalised.
The ERISJ is an incorporated, not-for-profit Institute that exists to serve the general public in Western Australia and beyond.
Aim of Program
- For social justice education to be transformative;
- For research to inform the evidence base for social justice advocacy, enabling it to be credible and grounded;
- For advocacy and action with and for the most marginalised
- For encouraging the public to engage, share stories in common, creating the desire to come together to reflect and take action.
Target Group
- Secondary and tertiary Students, workplaces, general community who wish to acquire skills and practice in social justice activism and understanding;
- Social justice activists, policy makers, and interested members of public;
- Marginalised communities, activists and aspiring activists, policy makers and volunteers
