John Danalis is the author of the book, "Riding The Black Cockatoo"

I recommend this as a good read as well as a thought provoking book. I have meet John and heard him speak. This interview gives an introduction to the book which brings into focus the attitude of Australians of our generations towards Aboriginal people.  It is a story of discovery.  One man researching the Aboriginal history and being shocked by what he found.  He also shows what can be done once awareness in awakened.

I suggest you listen to the Podcast of the interview with Richard Fidler.  It can be downloaded should you wish to make it the starting point for a life-changing discussion.

Broadcast date: Wednesday 24 March 2010

John Danalis' family home was full of curios: old bottles, tobacco tins, a rusty dingo trap - stuff retrieved from sheds and old farms.

Amidst all these relics, on the family mantlepiece, was a human skull they named Mary.

John was an adult before he he was shocked into finding out where the skull had come from, and how he could take Mary home.

Riding The Black Cockatoo, published by Allen and Unwin (2009)
