Two ways of accessing reflections and ideas for Lent are suggested on this page.

  1. Reflection 2011: a service provided by the Bishops of Australia.
  2. Be Still and Know – an invitation to connect globally this Lent

1)  Reflection 2011 is a service provided by the Bishops of Australia. The opening reflection is on the Temptations of Jesus in the Desert, and several of the bishops have provided personal reflections.

The method proposed is that of "Lectio Divina", which is well explained by Bishop David Walker. The video is about 13 minutes long, and I found it to be helpful and affirming, as well as reflective. New offerings will be made on every Monday of Lent.May I commend it to a possible Community sharing exercise ?

2) Be Still and Know is a series of Daily Reflections for Lent

They are posted on the website www.edmundrice.net

Each day consists of a line from the day’s scriptures and an invitation to Be Still and Know... some aspect of our faith-response for a few minutes in our own unique, silent, personal, prayerful space. The reflections are accompanied by a suitable picture to carry the message more graphically throughout the day. The Reflections have been put together by members of the ERN in different parts of the world. You are invited to participate for a few minutes each day of Lent to Be Still and Know and form a silent, prayer network around our world. There is also a link to send in your own responses, reflections, sharing, comments, etc.
