Kabankalan, Philippines
Earlier this month, I had the great privilege of spending time with the Christian Brothers' community on the island of Negros in the Philippines. In this community, three Australian Brothers, Rod Ellyard, John Moody and Jim Quinn work hard in their different outreaches in education and do wonderful work for the poor in the footsteps of Edmund Rice.
One evening during our visit, Mark Walsh, a colleague of ours from EREA who is working in the Philippines and I were asked by the Brothers to lead the community in evening prayer. We put considerable time into preparing this prayer experience and planned each step carefully so that the prayer could run as smoothly as possible.
However, in the middle of this prayer time, at a reflective stage, there was an interruption; and one of the Brothers left the chapel and returned a couple of minutes later with a family of mother, father and a little baby, together with a lady who worked closely with the Brothers. I write to inform you that Sangeeta Mahajan has tendered her resignation as CEO of Nudgee International College. Sangeeta has provided visionary leadership to the College through difficult times and will be sorely missed by those who have worked with her and the broader EREA community.
Although her area of expertise is international education, Sangeeta has always endeavoured to participate and add value in all aspects of EREA’s mission. Her professionalism, passion and expertise have been a blessing to NIC and the EREA community.
On your behalf, I thank Sangeeta for her wonderful leadership of the College and wish her well in her new endeavours. We will seek opportunities to formally farewell Sangeeta in the near future.
It is with much pleasure that I announce that Jeff Croser, acting Regional Administrator in our Eastern Region and former Headmaster of Rostrevor College, has been appointed to the substantive role of Regional Administrator in our Eastern Region. In a process which included all of our Eastern region principals and representation from our Board Chairs, Jeff was unanimously endorsed to continue the wonderful work that he began this year.
On your behalf, I congratulate Jeff and wish him and Mary all the best for their now extended stay in Sydney.
I write to give you an update on some discussion and subsequent decisions we have made concerning EREA support for our schools in the Western Region subsequent to Paul Williams’ move to the Southern Region. READ FULL LETTER
