As the year winds down, we invite you to gather for a special celebration – the 15th anniversary of the Edmund Rice Centre for Justice and Community Education. All who are connected to the Edmund Rice Centre and the Edmund Rice Network are welcome to come along to this special Christmas celebration on December 7th, details below.
As we journey through advent I wish you blessings for a meaningful time of peace, reflection and joy in the spirit of the refugee child, Jesus, who came with a message of love.
Edmund Rice Centre – Christmas Part & 15th Anniversary Celebration

SeeChange Program
The Edmund Rice Retreat and Conference Centre at Mulgoa is host an Oceania-wide formation program called ‘See Change’ focused on the link between social justice and spirituality. Three great speakers will give presentations, and on those days the retreat will be opened up to day participants as a day program.
On Monday December 12, Sr Anne Boyd from Earth Song in Melbourne will speak on ecology and spirituality and the Universe Story
Tuesday December 13, Br Mark O’Loughlin will share on the need for new language and new conceptual frameworks to facilitate growth in spirituality.
Wednesday December 14, Dr Maryanne Confoy rfc, will explore a mission centred response for both educational and ministry contexts in light of the Universe story and our search for the Transcendent.

Pacific Calling Partnership's Post - Durban event
COP17: Was it Worth It? Outcomes from Durban. Come and hear about the experiences and outcomes of the Pacific Calling Partnership’s delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Durban. Be part of a conversation on the impact of climate change on low-lying Pacific Islands and learn about the progress being made. Hear from speakers including: Claire Anterea, Representative from Kiribati, Phil Glendenning, Director, Edmund Rice Centre, Tom Zubrycki; film-maker (Tom will be discussing the impact of his new film The Hungry Tide), Sr Geraldine Kearney, Advocate for Social Responsibility, Good Samaritan Sisters

Volunteer Opportunity for Pre-school Teachers in East Timor
Pre-school teachers are required as volunteers to assist Comunidade Edmund Rice’s (CER) work of supporting and mentoring Timorese staff for a placement for 3, 6 or 10 months in 2012.Are you available ? 8 pre-schools are currently operating with 3 Timorese staff at each. Each school operates for 3 days a week and all staff come together each Friday for training, planning and some wider networking.
Drawing on the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice, CER expresses its solidarity with the people of Timor Leste in their mission of transformation. Working with the people of Timor Leste, CER aims to promote the integral and sustainable development of the people of Timor Leste, and the land and culture, through empowerment and building right relationships. Interfaith retreat for Muslims and Christians
Led by Fr Herman Roborgh SJ, who has lived for more than 30 years in Indonesia and Pakistan, and has been committed to Christian-Muslim dialogue for many years. Time for reflection, meditation, prayer and discussion on Scriptures from the
Bible and the Qur’an. BYO lunch, tea and coffee provided. Cost: gold coin donation,
proceeds to Christian-Muslim school in Pakistan.

Australian Campaign to Ban Uranium Weapons – Strategy Meeting
Following the launch last month of the Australian Campaign to Ban Uranium Weapons a planning meeting will be held this month to map a campaign strategy for next year. If you have ideas or skills to offer, please come along.
