I have just returned from Tuross Head, where, with 15 other Brothers, we had a CREAT Experience. For some , or indeed all, it was a significant investment of time and energy. Wagga drove at least five hours each way ; Canberra about three + ; myself and others had a five hour from Sydney ; and Gerringong and Wollongong had at least three hours. And of course, the TEAM of Luke, Terry and Cyril who came from Tugun, via Canberra. Not a bad effort for what turned out to be a very deep experience of community sharing and caring.
The theme from the Gospel was "Five Loaves is Enough", and the Workshop Goal was :
"deepening our call to discipleship, we are co-commissioned as brothers who dare to bring sustenance to one another and piur out our lives in prophetic action."
Excuse my self-indulgence if I quote one of the small poems used during the weekend :
Community
Somewhere, there are people
to whom we can speak with passion
without having the words catch in our throats.
Somewhere a circle of hands will
open to receive us, eyes will light up
as we enter, voices will celebrate with us
whenever we come into out own power.
COMMUNITY means
strength that joins our strength
to do the work that needs to be done.
Arms to hold us when we falter.
A circle of healing
A circle of friends.
Someplace where we can be free.
"Dreaming the Dark", Starhawk
I hope that all our Brothers can share the experience of CREAT.
