Edmund Rice Camps

Since 1992, Eddie Rice Camps Brisbane has been making a positive contribution to the lives of young people in Brisbane and surrounding areas.

  • We respond to the needs of young people through the development of mutual, caring relationships in a fun-filled and safe environment.

  • We provide creative and exciting themed holiday camps, activity days, and ongoing mentoring support

  • We provide opportunities for personal growth and challenge to action for all drawn to the ideals of Edmund Rice.

  • In Queensland, ERC also operates in Townsville and Yeppoon. You can link to the Townsville website at www.erc.tsv.catholic.org.au

Edmund Rice Mentoring Support

Mentors undertake a range of activities with their mentees according to the interests of the mentoring pair and the specific goals identified for each mentoring relationship.

Another important aspect of the Mentoring program is the development of a safe and supportive community of mentors and mentees who share life and fun together and learn from one another in a variety of informal environments. The mentoring group comes together once per month for activities including picnics, beach trips, movies, bowling, cooking, hiking and more.

Each year there is an end of year mentoring camp and Christmas celebration.

Edmund Rice Camps and Edmund Rice Mentoring Support are ministries of the Christian Brothers’ Oceania Province. For more information on the work of the Christian Brothers in Oceania.

Winter Activities 2011

28 June – 1 July | 9-11 years camp at Camp Laurence, Moogerah

28 June – 1 July | 14-16 years camp at Camp Duckadang, Linville

5-8 July | 12-13 years camp at Apex Camp, Mudjimba

The Mondays 27 June and 4 July will be Leaders’ Days at Xavier Indooroopilly, which you are also welcome to visit if the camps are too difficult for you to get to. If you would like to visit any of the camps, please contact Gerard Keating to organise as he usually visits the camps himself and could potentially provide a lift or travel buddy.

Trad camps are generally 4-day (Tuesday to Friday) dormitory camp experiences, where each participant is buddied up one-on-one with a leader. (Each camp also includes 'Leaders Day' - the Monday of camp - where the volunteers get to meet each other and prepare for the week).

Camps are split into age groups, so that the activites are age-appropriate for the children.
