Thanks for all the assistance to Comunidade Edmund Rice (CER) in East Timor to:
Bill, Richard and Mike who were here for the year and
Renee, Katrina, Krystal, Carla, Tom and Sally who were here for 3 months or so.
And then there were the 50 to 60 visitors who stayed with us for weeks or days.
So it was a good year which included the following:
-
Health continues with the 5 Timorese staff
-
Pre-school with 11 teachers (probably in six sites with 13 teachers next year)
-
CER’s 10 teachers continue to set a high standard at Deleco and Railako Kraic
-
Card making expanded to 51 ladies and nearly 15000 cards
-
Just Coffee was launched, and $US8000 distributed across 497 families
-
Taught English to over 450 people from Neldie aged 7 to Gil aged 49
-
Two Timorese teachers attended Nudgee International college
-
Dan’s Crew of 16 Terrace Timor Network people renewed Dan’s Motel and built the Ed Shed for pre-school and health
-
16 students from Gregory Terrace visited and put up soccer and volley ball posts
-
Other Qld ER schools have visited with the hope of continuing partnerships
-
47 new houses got lights and 100’s had repairs. And the annual $10 maintenance fee commenced.
-
We had new 'chefes' elected, and with them great hopes for better relationships with all the villages.
-
We spent $29000 on running six vehicles, and $28500 in housing and feeding six volunteers
-
In Australia, Katrina has prepared for publication an expanded 4 part English text book for TL schools.
-
We lived in a country with growing hopes of peace and prosperity
-
And as a community we ate and shared together, had a community meeting each Friday night, and a shared prayer each Sunday
-
And one and all of us were thanked thousands of times by smiling faces, bananas, eggs etc.
