During the first week of November this year about forty Senior Brothers gathered at Yamba for the last Yamberee. Brothers arrived by bus, train and car from Queensland, Western Australia and New Zealand. Since it is at least a seven hour trip from Sydney, most were tired on the Sunday we all arrived. However there was the joy of meeting old friends, some we had not seen since training days at Strathfield, so there was much joy. Renewing old acquaintances is always pleasant, so there was a lot to catch up on. Many had made the trip to Yamba a number of times while for some it was the first time to come.

140th Anniversary of Arrival |
On 17 November, 1868, at 8 pm, the ‘Donald McKay’ anchored a quarter of a mile from the wharf in Melbourne, having been at sea continuously from 23 August, when it sailed from Liverpool, a voyage of 95 days. The next morning, 18 November, Brs Treacy, Bodkin, Lynch and Nolan recited the ‘Te Deum’ and at 10 am went ashore to begin their Australasian mission.

Fanconi Anemia camp was certainly one to be remembered; different in many ways to the average Eddie Rice camp (with more adults than children!!), it was none the less exciting, challenging, and with many moments and friendships to be remembered.
